5. Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike is the only retired game. Its predecessor is Counter-Strike:Global offensive title. This game is a tactical first person shooter. In the game both are playing to eliminate the other. Also you must complete numerous objectives. Terrorists part is to plan bombs or defend the hostages. The counter terrorists on the other hand try to stop the terrorists from planting the bombs and rescue the hostages. Counter Strike is number five in numbers too. Currently it has around 100 million active users each month making it the most played esport game on the whole planet. It received 263.8 million hours watch on Twitch. In 2016 it broke their record for the biggest pool prize which was $5,070,000.00. Its prize pool $37,042,213.80. Professional players on its roster are 4332 with 1773 tournaments. South Korea was it highest earning counter with $13,832,712.92. In 2015 LoL had more people watching their World Championship then the NBA Finals online.

Overall the Esports industry keeps growing. Although many have not been as succesful as these top 5 five. All of them continue to grow as more and more people join the world of this sport. Esports is the next generation of sports. Sports are not typical anymore. In this day and age they are becoming digital and very high tech. Although football, basketball or baseball will be around forever the next generation of high paid players will probably come from Esports.
